Outcome Two eights swamped. 18 crew pulled from the river by police and fire boats. 
Description Eighteen women rowers and coxes had to be rescued from the Potomac River after they ran into problems. Police and fire boats called to the scene found nine women clinging to the hull of a capsized scull around 6:15 a-m. After rescuing the women, they headed to a second vessel that was swamped and sinking about 300 yards away. The nine women on that boat were rescued
